Wildfires Continue to Ravage the West

More than 96 large wildfires are burning across the United States, According to Cal Fire. California has been hit hardest, where fires have scorched a record 2.5 million acres.

More than 14,000 firefighters are battling 29 fires across California. The North Complex fire raging east of San Francisco is responsible for three deaths. 

Wildfires in Oregon have forced thousands of evacuations and destroyed hundreds of homes. Over 740 square miles have been burned this season. 

As of Wednesday, 586,000 acres of Washington had burned. The Pearl Hill fire near Bridgeport, Washington, has burned 55 structures. 

Dry conditions and red-flag warnings in Oregon and Washington are in place through Friday when the onshore winds are expected to shift to offshore. In California the winds have subsided, but dry weather is expected to persist.
