Tropical Storm Marco to Bring Heavy Rains and Surf to Northern Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Marco continues to produce heavy rainfall and dangerous storm surge along the northern Gulf Coast. Tropical Storm and Storm Surge warnings are still in effect for portions of the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama coastline.

As of 10:00 AM CDT, Marco is located 55 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River with sustained winds of 50 MPH. The storm is weakening due to unfavorable upper-atmospheric winds which has caused much of the winds and rain to be located to the northeast of the storm center.

Marco is expected to continue its westward track through Tuesday, with its circulation center nearing the Louisiana coast as it reduces in strength. Heavy rainfall, flash flooding and storm surges will still be a risk as the storm diminishes.
